WELCOME ZUKOSSA FITNESS WARRIORS
Get ready to bring the heat!
ABOUT THE ZUKOSSA FITNESS TEAM
In 2006, Janet Awokoya and Celeste Awokoya-Gregory, a mother-daughter team, co-created Zukossa Fitness. Zukossa is a coined term that means "glory dance!" Janet and Celeste’s mission is to use music, dance, and fitness to bring people of all backgrounds together and to encourage participants to reach the best versions of their authentic selves.
Zukossa Heat is a one hour online aerobic dance workout that incorporates various international music genres such as African, Caribbean, and Latin rhythms. We created the workout as a way to expose the African diaspora (and others) to the rich histories of different African-origin dances (e.g. makossa, salsa, ndombolo).
No fitness experience required. It is suggested that you bring water and create space for movement and dance.
Be sure to follow us on Instagram and YouTube @ ZukossaFitness.
SUPPORT A WARRIOR PROGRAM
Many participants are unable to pay for Zukossa Fitness classes due to economic hardships. It is our honor to offer these classes for free to these participants. You can support a warrior by contributing $5, $10, $15, or $20 donations so that we can continue helping them live a healthy lifestyle. Thank you!
